Several former officials of government, particularly from the immediate past Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)-led Government are said to be subjects of pending corruption charges as the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Team (AREPRT) concludes several investigations.

As announced recently by the Government of Liberia (GoL) through the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), former Finance and Development Planning Minister, Samuel D. Tweah, who is currently facing trial for corruption, will not be the only person, but several persons are being lined up as the ARPRT investigation proceeds further.

Deputy Minister for Public Affairs and Acting Minister, while addressing the MICAT press briefing maintained that the team is concluding some of those investigations and ‘‘we will come here to announce the names of some of those people to be indicted.’’

“The country’s democracy is flourishing unless in time past. There is a new sheriff and no more business as usual. And those who looted the coffers on industrial skills will account for it. Samuel Tweah will not be the last person,” he asserted.

“The Asset Recovery Team is concluding some of those investigations and we will come here to announce the names of some of those people to be indicted; not for building schools; not for building bridges but from stealing from this country. They entered government, they couldn’t rent for two bedroom apartment and they left with multi-million properties across the country. They are, we know them.” The Team is expected to lead the charge to ensure the processes leading to the location, recovery, and retrieval of public resources and properties.
