Senator’s Son Ordered Arrested

The Monrovia City Court Stipendiary Magistrate L. Ben Barco has ordered the Joint Security to arrest the living body of Jenelai Alex Tyler, son of Bomi County Senator, Alex Tyler, for refusing to pay US$7,500 car debt.Magistrate Barco’s June 13, 2025 action came after complainant Rannie Baio informed the court that on May 30, 2025, defendant Tyler, with criminal intent and purpose, obtained one vehicle (Ford Explorer) from his (Rannie) business entity, under the agreement and obligation to pay US$7,500, but since then, defendant Tyler has deliberately placed himself in hiding and has failed, refused and neglected to pay.

The Magistrate’s order said, “You are hereby commanded to arrest the living body of Jenelai Alex Tyler, defendant to be identified, who is on the run and to forthwith bring him before the court to answer to the commission of the crimes “Defrauding secured creditor” in violation of the new Penal Law of Liberia.”

The judge said that “In the event the defendant is arrested after official working hours, he should be detained at the nearest police station to be brought before the court the next working day.” According to the court document, despite the defendant’s refusal to pay his US$7,500 car debt, he (defendant Tyler) is unlawfully, withholding funds that is rightfully belonging to Baio (car owner). The Monrovia City Court has described the alleged action of the defendant as criminal, illegal, unlawful, adding that it is a violation of Sector 15.57 of the New Penal Law of Liberia.
