President Joseph N. Boakai has disclosed plans to refurbish all damaged government properties in Liberia including the Ducor Palace Hotel, Hotel Africa, EJ Roye Building and other presidential buildings amongst others.
Speaking Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at the endorsement ceremony for the validation of the National Development Plan in Congo Town, Boakai said in 2025, his government will launch a post conflict infrastructure conference aimed at looking at those damaged government properties that have been abandoned over the years.
According to him, past governments have wasted a lot of resources on getting new buildings, leaving those abandoned government properties undone.
President Boakai said during the conference, the government and its partners will reflect and discuss how those properties can be rebuilt, adding that there are valuable infrastructures in Liberia that are in the hands of the wrong people.
The president said it was time to make Liberia a better place as international partners have shown interest and commitment in such endeavors.
Meanwhile, the president said, “As a government, we should cater to the young people, we have to improve their lives and give them hope because they are the future leaders of the country.”
President Boakai said his government is committed to making sure that Liberia is developed as the country has everything it takes to be a developed nation.
“Those we have called on board to work are not perfect, but they are willing to work in the interest of the country. We can solve our own problems if we are committed to work without corruption. Liberia has one of the most beautiful lands in the world,” he said.
