Richmond A.G. Fleming, a resident of District 1, Lower Margibi County, has expressed the need for a robust county service delivery system across Margibi which is essential for growth and development across the county.

Fleming made the remarks at the ongoing National County Consultation for Inclusive Development meeting in Kakata City on Monday, August 12, 2024. He said lower Margibi districts, especially 1&2 are currently faced with serious challenges regarding county service delivery centers for citizens.

The ongoing consultation across the country is geared toward capturing citizen’s views, inputs, recommendations and validation of district reports for national implementation purpose under the current National ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. Another resident, Joseph S. Tamba Jr, who also spoke at the occasion, revealed that about 32 villages and surrounding towns in district 1&2 lack basic health centers.

Tamba said there is no ambulance to transport pregnant mothers; something he believes has caused several deaths during the childbirth process. “We are calling on the national government under the leadership of President Boakai to provide maternal waiting homes at public hospitals and create tourism sites along some of our rivers and build medical centers across the districts, to enable citizens to have access to affordable medical supplies.”

He also pleaded for the construction of road that will link Charleville to the National Referral Laboratory (NFL), including the construction of Unification Multi-purpose City Hall, build farm to market road from Mambahn to Mabaclay (Mount Barclay) and construct road connecting Ambush Curve to Duke River.
