House of Representative Chairman on Rules, Order and Administration Representative J. Marvin Cole has sent an early caveat to Civil Service Agency (CSA) Director Josiah Joekai to desist from dealing with Representatives on the basis of personal feelings or risk being declared in a vote of no confidence.
Representative Cole’s remarks comes in the wake of the CSA boss’ decision not to approve the new payroll of central administration staff submitted by the House’s leadership, even though names on the payroll were scrutinized and properly vetted by an independent auditing firm.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, Representative Cole said the decision taken by Director Joekai is a gross disrespect to the standing order and the constitutional rights of that august body. He said Joekai’s decision to have deprived over 749 Liberians of their July 2024 salaries is politically motivated and undermines the government’s agenda.
Representative Cole vowed that if the CSA boss continues on the trajectory of not paying salaries of staffers at the House of Representatives, there will be no recast of the national budget.
