The Minister of Education, Jarso M. Jallah has frowned on the over crownless of public schools across the country.  Speaking Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Information Ministry press briefing, Dr. Jallah said the ministry discovered after their recent county assessment tour in the fourteen counties that schools are overcrowded.

Minister Jallah said the ministry is working on plan to reduce students overcrowded in various classrooms across the country and with construction, extension and renovation of schools.

“The Ministry will ensure that contractors handling the building process honor their side of the contracts, with either incomplete buildings or buildings not built to specifications will be held accountable,” she said.

Minister Jallah furthered that the ministry’s goal is to achieve sustainable development and Vision 2030, and they must invest in our teachers, students, schools and institutions to increase access to education and improve the quality of teaching and learning. She said the ministry is ensuring the completion and dedication of three modern schools being constructed in Bong, Margibi and Nimba with funding from the IRISE/WB project.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jallah has disclosed the Ministry is putting in place mechanisms for registration fee payment and ensure collected funds goes to support county, district and school level operations.
