Protemp Leads Delegation To African Senates Conference In Morocco

A high-level delegation from the Liberian Senate, led by President ProTempore Honorable Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence, has arrived in Rabat, Morocco, to attend the annual conference of the Association of African Senates.

According to a release issued on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the delegation, which includes Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, Chairman of the Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee; Senator Jonathan BoyCharles Sogbie, Chairman of the Maritime Committee; and Deputy Press Director Siafa Jallah, was received by their counterpart from the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco and Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Morocco, Joseph F. Johnson.

The conference, scheduled for April 8-9, 2026, will bring together Presidents of 25 African parliaments’ upper chambers to discuss the role of upper chambers in consolidating democracy and preserving peace in Africa.

The event aims to strengthen interparliamentary cooperation and adopt a Rabat Declaration outlining shared commitments.

The Liberian delegation’s participation in the conference underscores Liberia’s commitment to regional cooperation and democratic governance in Africa.
