The Liberia National Police (LNP) says one of its officers identified as Sergeant Abdullaziz S. Kromah discharged a firearm at the Iron Gate checkpoint n Brewerville, which resulted in the injury of one person. A release quotes Spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke as indicating that the incident occurred on Sunday, August 31, 2025. At the time of the incident, she explained that Sergeant Kromah was off duty.

Accordingly, preliminary findings indicate that the weapon used by Officer Kromah was not his official service arm. Rather, it was registered to another officer, Inspector Monica Zayzay from the Emergency Response Unit (ERU). The victim, identified as Hassan Carter, was immediately taken to the John F. Kennedy Medical Center for medical treatment. Sergeant Kromah is in custody while a full investigation is underway. The Liberia National Police assures that no officer will be shielded from responsibility.
