Over 58,000 Burkinabes Enrolled ..Deputy LIS Commissioner General Announces

The Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) has announced that it has enrolled over 58,000 Burkinabes in and around the country. Speaking Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Ministry of Information regular press briefing, A. Kundukai Jeleiba, Deputy Commissioner General for Operations of the Liberia Immigration Service disclosed that they have completed phase one of the volcano beach registration and enrollment exercise.

He said ongoing discussions between the National Identification Registry (NIR), the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), and the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) aimed to ensure the regularization of those enrolled.  According to him, this collaboration will result in the issuance of resident permits by the LIS and special resident identification cards by the NIR;, adding that LRA will also establish a special depository for revenue collection from these services.

Commissioner Jeleiba also reaffirmed that LIS will maintain a zero tolerance policy against officers’ involvement in political activities. “As a professional law enforcement institution, we remain committed to neutrality, discipline, and integrity, any officer found in violation of this directive will face disciplinary action consistent with our Code of Conduct and Civil Service Agency policies” he warned.

Speaking on other issues at the news conference, Jeleba explained that LIS Five-Year Strategic Plan (2025-2030) has been completed pending validation and official launch. He said this plan outlines key priorities, focusing on policy reform, financial discipline, and institutional modernization. He noted that the plan will serve as a roadmap to guide the transformation of the Liberia Immigration Service over the next five years
