‘Old Lady’ Caught With Drug

It appears that the sale and distribution of drugs is not limited to the youngsters but also the elderly, especially women. One of such elderly woman caught in the sale of illegal substance is 70-year-old Lucy S. Morris The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), through its Special Drug Squad confiscated KUSH valued at over a million Liberian dollars (L$1,000,000) during a targeted operation in the Township of West Point following a tip-off.

According to preliminary findings, the confiscated narcotic substance was concealed in nine (9) small mineral water bottles believed to be owned by suspect Morris. The suspect is being investigated and will be forwarded to court for prosecution in accordance with the Amended Controlled Drugs and Substances Act of 2023.

The LDEA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the distribution of illicit substances across Liberia.  The Agency continues to intensify operations in all parts of the country to ensure that those involved in the illegal drug trade are brought to justice.

LDEA is urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious drug-related activities within their communities. The LDEA further observes that traffickers and distributors are using new methods including the use of motorcycles and tricycles (kekehs) to transport illicit substances in an attempt to evade law enforcement operations.

The Agency assures the public that it remains resolute in enforcing countermeasures to intercept and dismantle such evolving criminal strategies. Just recently at the Clay Checkpoint of the LDEA in Bomu County, another female suspect identified as Emmon Gboyah,45, was arrested, investigated, and forwarded to court in connection to a large quantity of Tramadol concealed in several gallons of red oil. LDEA officers on routine vehicle inspection uncovered the drugs hidden inside gallons containing red oil. During investigation, suspect Gboyah admitted that the gallons belong to her.
