Deputy-Minister,-Daniel-Sando

The Liberian Government has distanced itself from the demolition in Saye Town. Speaking on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Ministry of Information, Deputy Minister for Press & Public Affairs Daniel Sando said the government has absolutely no involvement with the demolition incident.

He said the matter is not in any way linked to the government. Sando disclosed that the demolition is followed by a legal process and was carried out pursuant to a ruling issued by a competent court. “The government has absolutely no role to play in initiating the exercise; it was the enforcement of lawful court orders and falls within the mandate of the judiciary and relevant authorities”, he said.

However, Sando expressed sympathy to residents affected by the demolition. He acknowledged the hardship suffered by families who lost their homes and properties, describing the situation as distressing for the community. He stressed that Liberia is governed by the rule of law and emphasized that court orders must be respected and enforced once issued.

The Deputy Information Minister called on Liberians to seek legal redress through the courts to resolve land and property disputes in order to prevent similar incidents in the future. He calls for transparency in land ownership matters and stronger protection for vulnerable people. Sando reaffirms the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law. He appealed for compassion and lawful engagement in addressing land and property disputes across the country.
