The violent protest that erupted on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Headquarters of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) did not take away any life as claimed by authorities of CDC, the Liberia National Police (LNP) has disclosed.

LNP has termed as untrue and misleading information circulating on social media that the man who was seen unconscious and being helped by police officers during the violent protest has died.

An LNP release indicated that contrary to report of deaths at the CDC Headquarters, Prince Zammie, 43, who was seen unconscious during the protest, is currently undergoing medical treatment at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital.

The release quotes Police Spokesperson Cecelia G. Clarke as saying the victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital by LNP officers. The Police condemn the dissemination of false information on their operations and urges the public to verify the sources of information before spreading such falsehood.

Meanwhile, Police authorities are calling on citizens to remain calm as everything has been brought under control. “We are committed to keeping the public informed about the health status of Prince Zammie and other Joint Security officers who also sustained injuries during Thursday’s protest,” Clarke added.
