Nearly two months after the resignation of former Finance Minister Bioma M. Kamara, President Joseph N. Boakai has appointed Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan as the new Minister of Finance and Development Planning.

Minister Ngafuan was amongst many appointees named by the President on Thursday, August 29, 2024, affecting the Ministry of Finance & Development Planning, National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, Public Procurement & Concessions Commission (PPCC), National Commission on Disabilities (NCD), and the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE).

At the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs Board of Directors, Boakai named Minister of Defense, Chairperson, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Member, Minister of Finance, Member, Director of the National Security Agency, Member, Minister of Public Works, Member, Minister of Internal Affairs, Member and Director General of the National Bureau of Veteran Affairs, Secretary

The President named Cllr. Sundayway E. Nelson Amagashie, Cllr. Vincent Smith, Cllr. Morris Davis, Mr. Ezekiel F. Nyumah and Mr. Michael C.G. George as Members at the Public Procurement & Concessions Commission (PPCC) Complaint Appeal & Review Panel.

At the National Commission on Disabilities (NCD), the Liberian leader appointed Ms. Winnifred Paye, Deputy Director for Administration and Mr. Charles Sayphan, Deputy Director for Technical Services.

Boakai also appointed Rev. Ben P. Cooper, Member, Board of Trustees and Prof. Nathaniel G. Gbessagee, Deputy Executive Director for Operations at the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE). The appointments, according to President Boakai where applicable, are subject to confirmation by the Liberian Senate. He has called on appointed officials of government to continue to demonstrate diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to country.
