The Ministry of Education has inducted a new cohort of County Education Officers and inaugurated Liberia’s first National CEO Council, a major step in strengthening county-level leadership, monitoring, and accountability across the education system. Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Jarso Maley Jallah reminded the officers that their role goes far beyond administration.

County Education Officers are now at the point where national education reform meets classroom reality, responsible for supervision, school performance, teacher presence, and the protection of learners in their counties. Jallah emphasized that leadership must be exercised with integrity, professionalism, and results. She added, “Schools that function well, teachers who are supported, and children who remain protected and learning are the true measures of success. Where standards are upheld, progress will be recognized.”

Following the induction, the sixteen County Education Officers established the National CEO Council to strengthen collaboration and peer accountability.  Those inducted include: David Boakai of Bong County, Chairman; Amanda W. Zota of Montserrado County #1, Vice Chair; Jallah Sammy of River Gee County, Secretary General; Francis G. Leagay of Nimba County, Public Relations Officer; Samuel Y. Koenig of Sinoe County, Chaplain, and Harrison Darwolor of Grand Cape Mount County, Advisor. The formation of the National CEO Council marks a shift toward stronger supervision, local ownership, and results-focused leadership, ensuring that education reform is felt not only in plans but in schools and communities across Liberia.
