The Minister of Public Works, Roland Layfette Giddings says his administration will be awarding government contracts strictly on the basis of performance.

Speaking recently, he indicated that previous contacts awarded were either not performing well due to certain level of technical incapacitation, or that the past administration defaulted on contractors’ payments.
According to him, the move is geared towards clearing all existing contracts before the Ministry can begin awarding new contracts.

Minister Giddings and his team visited the following projects in the Monrovia to Banjor Road to Neckaly’s Town concrete pavement, Johnsonville to Mount Barclay Road, Small St. Michael to Patience Shop Road, among others.
He stated that the Ministry has begun what it calls “Sustainable Community Partnership Engagement” that places its equipment at the disposal of the communities to enable the clearing and opening of alleyways.

Giddings disclosed that the engagement successfully commenced in the New Israel Community with the use of the ministry’s equipment.

He said the exercise is also expected to continue in other communities across Montserrado as the ministry seeks to connect various settlements.

Meanwhile, Minister Giddings has revealed the commencement process of validation of standard and quantity of road constructions in the country.
