MDMC Express Inc. has denied allegations made by the Assets Recovery Task Force that its contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was fraudulent. Addressing a press conference on Monday, November 10, 2025, the company described the claims as “false, misleading, and politically motivated,” insisting that all works were completed in full compliance with the contract.
The company clarified that it entered into a legitimate contract with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to renovate the Ministry’s headquarters and install three new elevators, a project valued at nearly US$2 million and funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Company added that despite completing the work, the Ministry still owes more than US$500,000, even after the Ministry of Justice issued a legal opinion in December 2024 recommending payment.
MDMC said members of the Task Force, accompanied by armed police officers, carried out an unprovoked raid on the home of its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. John S. Youboty, in the early hours of Friday, November 7, 2025, leading to his illegal arrest and subsequent detention at the Monrovia Central Prison.
MDMC condemned the Task Force’s actions as a witch-hunt and an abuse of power that undermines investors’ confidence in Liberia. The company vowed to pursue legal action against those responsible for what it called a “reckless and unlawful attack” on its CEO.
