MCC Team Engages LEC On Energy Sector Assessment

The Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC) delegation to Liberia recently paid a courtesy visit to the interim management team of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC).

The engagement aimed to assess the progress, achievements, and challenges faced by the Liberia Electricity Corporation.

The MCC team was represented by Jason A. Small, Managing Director for Compact Operations-Africa Programs, and Sara L. Horner Political and Economic Counselor at the United States Embassy in Monrovia, among other officials

The meeting served as an initial step toward fostering a comprehensive understanding of Liberia’s energy landscape. Discussions centered on the current state of the electricity sector, including operational achievements, ongoing challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

The interim management team of LEC welcomed the MCC team and expressed optimism and the potential to address long-standing issues in electricity supply across the country.

This engagement marks a significant milestone in efforts to revitalize Liberia’s energy infrastructure and improve access to reliable electricity for households, businesses, and industries.
