The Liberia National Police (LNP) has arrested a man identified as Neppy T. Karpeh, alias Razo Dazo, for allegedly sharing nude photos and videos of two Liberian women on social media.
Making the revelation at a press conference on Monday, May 20, 2024, Police Spokesperson Cecelia Clarke said during investigation with the victims and the suspect, the analysis of evidence provided observed that Suspect Karpeh used social media to cyber-bully and blackmail women as a mean to generate funds for survival.
The investigation gathered that the first female victim (name withheld for ethical reason) was involved in intimacy with the suspect through social media and as the relationship progressed, both of them started to engage in video calling.
According to Clarke, the police also established that on one occasion, the suspect called the victim on video while she was in her bathroom naked. He then recorded her nude video unknowingly to her and posted it on social media after he requested her to send him money which she refused.
The investigation also gathered that the suspect is in the constant habit of getting into intimate relationships with females and take nude photos and videos of them to post on social media either to denigrate or extort money from them.
After thorough investigation and careful analysis of evidence (nude photos and videos provided by both victims), the police spokeswoman said the investigation concluded that both victims were in intimate relationships with the suspect, and one of the victims had no restrictions of video calls which the suspect used to record her and post of social media after she refused to give him money.
It was further established that one the nudes posted on social media is the direct image one of the victim while she was naked in her bathroom.
During the investigation, Clarke said the suspect admitted to the charges and said that he even begged one of the victims and pleaded for mercy.
The suspect has since been charged with the crimes of Disseminating Obscene Materials, Criminal Coercion and Disorderly Conduct in violation of the Revise Penal Law Of Liberia.
