Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) Acting Chairman, Abdullah Kamara has disclosed that government will be training about 10,000 young people in digital transformation.
Speaking Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Information Ministry’s regular press briefing, LTA Acting Chairman said the digital transformation program was launched recently to train Liberians in digital sector and the training will focus on General Digital Skills, Digital Marketing, E-commerce and GIS & Digital Survey.
Kamara said the program will take place in Montserrado and other counties that has stable network connectivity; adding that young people will be trained on how the internet can be used for business and not just to post pictures or report fake news.
“This training is the first step and will be completed within six months and the purpose of this program is to open the mind of Liberian youth to digital world,” he said.
The LTA Acting Chairman said there will be massive awareness with media engagements, talk shows and television programs to educate Liberians around the country.
He also said there will be a special process for the disable community to ensure that everyone is represented in the training.
