In keeping with the its corporate social responsibility, the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has donated Five Hundred (500) pieces of Mobile Phones to the Liberia Refugee Repatriation & Resettlement Commission for the use of Liberian refugees who are returning from Ghana to Liberia.
A Thursday, May 23, 2024 release said that the donations reflect the company’s dedication to positively impact society and foster sustainable development within the country.
Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director Amos B. Tweh, the company’s Manager for Corporate Affairs, William Morris said the donation is LPRC’s way of giving back to society and reinforcing its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. Mr. Morris emphasized that the company believes in supporting local initiatives and contributing to the overall well-being and development of the society in which it operates.
Also speaking, Mr. A.J. Armah Karneh, Deputy Executive Director for Administration of the LRRRC, commended the company for the donation and assured that such items will be used for the intended purpose.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries and highlighted the positive impact the contributions would have on the returnees.
It can be recalled that the Buduburam Refugee Camp in Ghana was demolished on February 27, 2024, rendering about more than 600 including Liberians homeless.
The demolition which was earlier scheduled for 2021, was postponed following pleas by residents.
About 700 Liberian returnees left Ghana on Tuesday by road as the first of the repatriation process.
