The Liberia National Police (LNP) has charged 67-year-old ‘church mother’ identified as Klady A. Paul, with simple assault, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. The criminal charges by the Police against the woman followed a physical altercation and verbal attack on a police officer, Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin, on 12th Street in Sinkor on Tuesday, August 2, 2025.
Video footage showed the lady hitting her fingers on the face of the officer in an aggressive manner while the officer remained calm throughout the woman’s aggression. According to LNP officials, the incident occurred on Tuesday morning, August 12, at the busy 12th Street intersection, where Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin was directing traffic.
Paul, reportedly a classroom teacher, approached the officer in a hostile manner before launching into a verbal tirade that quickly escalated into physical aggression, as shown in the video footage. Deputy Commissioner of Police for Press and Public Affairs, Cecelia G. Clarke told a news conference that suspect Paul used profane and inflammatory language not only toward Officer Larmin but also other officers at the scene.
She disclosed that the attack on the officer caused visible injuries to his face and damaged government-issued police radio during her aggression. The melee attracted public attention and disrupted the free flow of traffic in the area. She has since been forwarded to court for prosecution.
Clarke stressed, “These charges reflect the gravity of her actions and the impact on public order and police work. The Liberia National Police will not tolerate any act that undermines the authority of the force. Clarke emphasized that while the LNP is committed to holding its officers accountable, it also must protect them from public attacks.
“We commend Patrolman Larmin for his resilience, professionalism, and restraint during the incident. His ability to maintain composure under pressure reflects the values and discipline expected of every officer in uniform, and is a clear indication of improvement in law-enforcement service delivery,” the LNP said.
