The Liberia Senior men’s national team, the Lone Star, secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Djibouti in the first-leg of the preliminary qualifiers of the Morocco 2025 AFCON.
Mohammed Sangare of Scottish Premiership side Livingstone scored the match opener from the spot to give Liberia a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minutes.

Lone Star new captain Murphy Oscar Dorley double the lead 12 minutes later with a brilliant effort to give Liberia a two goal advantage going into the second leg.

The win marked the first for the Lone Star since June 2022 when they defeated Senegal local-based team in the final leg of the CHAN qualifiers.

The return leg between the two nations will take place next Tuesday, 26 March at the Samuel Kayon Doe Stadium in Liberia.

The Lone Star will need at least only a draw in order to advance to the 2025 AFCON qualifiers proper.
