The Liberia Electricity Corporation has announced the implementation of the Liberia’s First Solar Farm project, a 20-megawatt project to help complement the 88 megawatts of Mount Coffee Hydropower Plant.
The project, an unprecedented one by the energy company, is aimed at supplying higher electricity to Liberians who are yet to enjoy reliable electricity since the end of the 14-years civil upheaval.
According to LEC, the initiative will gradually address the significant power decrease experienced during the dry season when water levels drop at the St. Paul River.
The project is expected to be completed in 12-15 months, and the procurement of contractors is already underway, a statement from the LEC on its Facebook handed said.
