The President of the Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL), Lisa Tenneh Diasay has urged organizational leaders across the country to lead with compassion, humility and a deep commitment to the principles of fairness.
Serving as guest speaker at the OK FM Fan Club induction ceremony in Monrovia over the weekend, the FeJAL President called on the new leadership to embrace diversity, encourage dialogue, and strive to create a space where every voice is valued and respected.
“Each of you, as leaders within this organization, holds the key to unlocking the potential of our community, empowering individuals, and driving positive change. But with great power comes great responsibility. Together, let us embark on this journey with a renewed sense of purpose and determination,” she added.
The OK FM Fan Club established in 2019, is a social group comprising several individuals from different backgrounds glued to the day-to-day activities of one of Liberia’s leading radio stations, OK FM and ensures that many get attracted to the news and other content of the media institution among others.
Madam Diasay told the leadership headed by its President Bendu Dunor to collectively work to uphold the legacy of OK FM and to ensure that its impact continues to resonate far and wide across Liberia.
She indicated that the fan club has the potential to be a driving force for positive change and growth within the station and beyond, emphasizing the need to harness the power of radio to inform, inspire, and unite the community, making Liberia a better place for all.
Reflecting on the role of the social group, the FeJAL boss said the fan club can inspire and empower the next generation of radio talent, providing opportunities for aspiring broadcasters, journalists, and content creators to hone their skills and make their mark on the industry.
She also informed the leadership that their role extends far beyond mere titles and positions, noting that it embodies a commitment to serving their fellow members, nurturing the spirit of community, and upholding the values of transparency and integrity.
“In a country where the radio is not just a medium but a lifeline for many, the OK FM fan club plays a crucial role in amplifying the voices of the people, ensuring that their concerns are heard, and their stories are shared,” the FeJAL President averred.
She noted that radio has always been more than just a means of entertainment; it’s a lifeline for communities, a conduit for information, and a catalyst for change, indicating that in Liberia, where access to reliable information is crucial, OK FM stands as a beacon of truth, reaching millions of citizens and shaping the discourse of our nation.
“As we gather here to celebrate the inauguration of new leaders within the OK FM fan club, it’s important to recognize the invaluable contributions that radio station fan clubs make around the world, “she said
She further said these fan clubs serve as ambassadors for their respective stations, rallying support, fostering engagement, and amplifying the station’s message far and wide.
They serve as a bridge between the station and its audience, providing valuable feedback, insights, and support that contribute to the station’s growth and success,” Madam Diasay stressed.
