The Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Liberia has issued a warning to lawyers against using social media platforms to criticize the judiciary following unfavorable case outcomes. Making remarks on Friday, December 5, 2025 at the opening of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) convention in Ganta, Nimba County, Yarmie Gbeisay emphasized that the Supreme Court and its subordinate courts are committed to dispensing justice without fear and favor and that the judiciary would never succumb to pressure.
”The judiciary will never submit itself to the wishes of public opinion but by the law,” Justice Gbeisay stated, underscoring the court’s commitment to judicial independence and the rule of law. Justice Gbeisay assured the lawyers that the judiciary will continue to guarantee a fair trial in all cases, regardless of the nature of the matter, or the political connections and backgrounds of those involved.
