Legal Practitioner, Mmonbeydo N Joah, says maintenance of democracy in Liberia will require the effort of every citizen.

She made the statement Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in Monrovia at a dialogue of the Women’s Situation Room (WRS).
The dialogue focused on the outstanding role of youth, first time voters, motorcyclists and at risk youth played to the overall conduct of the 2023 Elections.

She indicated that democracy means equal rights as such, no one should be bullied or labelled base on sexual decisions.

According to her, the women and youth of Liberia played an important role during the elections, adding that women from the markets turned out in their numbers.
She thanked all Liberians for safeguarding their votes and frowned at people who bullied women on social media.
Joah called on women to challenge the system and fight for their votes during future elections.
For her part, Establishment Coordinator and Founder of the WSR, Cllr. Yvette Chesson-Wureh, urged the youth of Liberia to avoid being used by politicians.
“Even if you are on drugs, you need to understand that Liberia is the only country that we all have and we must protect it,” she indicated.
She intoned that the WSR peace dialogue clearly shows that women are taking control of Liberia, saying “If we as citizens don’t take control of ourselves, the police and other won’t do it.”
She applauded youths across the country for maintaining the peace throughout the election period.
For her part, Madam Josephine Kou Gaye Commissioner for Oversight Responsibility for Gender at the National Elections Commission (NEC,) spoke on the roles and responsibilities of government during elections period.
She maintained that the government has a responsibility to protect all citizens regardless of their political affiliation or ethnic group.
