The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China (PEC) to Liberia, YIN Chengwu has encouraged graduates of the China-Liberia Friendship School to focus on their future endeavors, as their graduation is not the end of their education, but a new beginning.
Ambassador YIN noted that graduation is not an end of education but a new beginning. The Chinese Ambassador spoke over the weekend when he served as Guest Speaker at the gradation exercise of twenty-six students from the China-Liberia Friendship School in Gardnersville.
Amb. YIN said the future is bright, and full of challenges as well, but eventually the future belongs to the students and young generation, especially those who will be prepared.
He added, “No matter how the future will unfold, I hope you will always remain curious to the unknowns, maintain good study habits, and be thankful for life. I hope you will also be resilient and courageous, cherish friendship, and pursue your dreams.”
The Chinese envoy acknowledged that although China and Liberia are thousands of miles apart, China regards Liberia as a good friend, a good brother and a good partner. He added that under the great leadership of President Xi Jinping of China and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, China-Liberia relations have entered a new stage with a great deal of support of China’s supports to President Boakai’s “ARREST” Agenda.
He said China values the friendship with Liberia and the development of Liberia’s youth education. “In recent years, China has built the University of Liberia Fendall Campus, Monrovia Vocational Training Center and Tobeyville Primary School in Maryland County. China also provides scholarships and short-term training opportunities for Liberian every year,” Amb. YIN outlined.
At the same time, the Chinese Ambassador has encouraged Liberians to apply for scholarships to study in China and return to serve Liberia. He said China will continue to support the development of education in Liberia, and the Chinese Embassy will maintain good cooperation with China-Liberia Friendship School.
He lauded all the teachers, parents, adding that their support and care have enabled the students to study well and grow up healthy. He extending his heartfelt congratulations to the 26 graduates of the institution. Amb. YIN disclosed that the Chinese Embassy will donate rice, cooking oil and milk powder to the school to help improve the lives of teachers and students.
