The Liberian Government through the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning has launched a national development plan with focus on achieving the Vision 2030.

Speaking at a news conference Thursday, May 30, 2024, Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning, Tanneh G. Bruson said the purpose of this plan is to provide the roadmap for achieving sustainable development, addressing challenges and maximizing available resources in a proper way.

She said the plan will serve as a guide for documents of the government’s actions and will provide a framework for the coordination of various institutions and stakeholders.

Bruson indicated that preparations of this plan will involve multi stakeholders approach and competent expenses consultation with various groups, civil society organizations, private sector representatives, government institutions, amongst others.

Deputy Minister Bruson said this new development plan supports the government’s ARREST Agenda which focuses on agriculture, roads, rule of law, education, security and tourism.

“This new national development plan will be crafted on current list of corresponding counties development agendas and the public sector investment plan and ensure that they remain in track,” she said.

Furthermore, these plans will be guided by the 1986 Constitution to incorporate the priority outlined in the Unity Party’s global and regional development framework. It will build on the gains made in key sectors, utilizing key developments including reports and data from partners.

According to her, counties will have the opportunity to localize services to the citizens and in turn enhance their development agendas.

Deputy Minister Bruson said this development plan was presented at the recent cabinet retreat where President Joseph Nyuma Boakai endorsed the road map and named the document the Arrest Agenda for Inclusive Development Plan (AAID).
