Government Condemns Lofa Violence

Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT), Daniel O. Sando, has condemned the recent violence in Lofa County that led to the burning down of structures and blockage of major passage routes.

Speaking during MICAT’s regular press briefing on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Minister Sando said the recent burning of a police station and court facility in Lofa County is unlawful and perpetrators of said action will face the full weight of the law as violence has no place In Liberia.

He said Liberia is governed by laws and not men, the case of the devastating civil war that claimed lives and destroyed properties.

The Deputy Minister called on all Liberians to respect the rule of law as the foundation for peace and progress, while reflecting on the past and working collectively to avoid repeating the mistakes of previous administrations.
