Former Deputy Minister Cleared of Rape

The Liberia National Police (LNP) has issued a Clearance Certificate to former Deputy Youth and Sports Minister J. Bryant McGill, exonerating him from the crime of rape.  According to a police report issued on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Miss Emma Pour, 23 years of age, on behalf of her sister, victim F.P.C.D, whose full name is withheld for reasons of confidentiality, reported at the Zone-8 Sub-Police Station a rape case against suspect McGill on August 30, 2025, at 11:02 pm.

Miss Pour narrated that her sister (Victim F.P.C.D) informed her that she was sexually abused by suspect J. Bryant McGill in his office at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex on Saturday, August 30, 2025, between 6 and 8 pm.

During police inquiry, the victim (F.P.C.D) stated that she was initially raped on August 28, 2025, at 7 pm. by suspect McGill in his parked car right before the Zone-8 Depot-1 within the SKD Sports Complex Community while threatening her with a yellow-handled stainless knife. The investigation established that on August 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM, McGill picked up Miss Zaye Gompue from the practice field of the SKD Sports Complex and drove her in Bonja, Thinker’s Village, where he stayed up to 9 PM.

According to the police report, the GSM Cell phone GRS coordinates (Geo-Spatial), also placed J. Bryant McGill to an Orange GSM phone Tower in Kenny Town, Thinker’s Village Community between 6:30pm to 9:00pm, contrary to the victim’s assertion that she was sexually abused by suspect McGill in his car in front the under construction Police Depot between 6:30-7:30 PM.

“The DNA analysis report from the Forensics Institute in Kigali, Rwanda determined and concluded that the Y. STR profile obtained from victim’s (FPCD) short (peach backing pant), mix-colors shirt, and the pink and blue sweater does not match or correspond with the Y. STR profile obtained suspect McGill’s swab; therefore, he can be excluded as a contributor to the male profile found on the victim’s clothing,” the police report stated.  The police concluded that in testament of the facts of this case, the investigation exonerates McGill from the allegation of the crime of Rape, and issues him a Police Clearance Certificate for reference purposes.
