Minister of Foreign Affairs Sara Beysolow Nyanti on Monday, August 5, 2024, met with Mark Toner, Ambassador-designate of the United States to Liberia. The meeting is coming just ahead of the American diplomat’s formal presentation of his letter of credence to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr.
Minister Nyanti used the occasion to formally welcome Mr. Toner to Liberia and registered her gratitude to the United States for its continued support and assistance to Liberia and its role in helping Liberia maintain stability, peace and development.
Discussions during the meeting were centered around strengthening U.S.-Liberia relations and cooperation on global issues such as human rights, terrorism, climate change and good governance.
Minister Nyanti assured Mr. Toner of her Ministry’s full support for his mission, aiming to make his tenure successful. In turn, Ambassador-designate Toner thanked the minister for the warm reception and reiterated the U.S. commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in trade and other key areas.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both officials expressing their commitment to working closely together for the benefit of both nations and global peace.
