Liberia’s First Lady, Kartumu Yarta Boakai, has departed Liberia for a strategic visit to the United States of America to forge partnership for the health sector. According to a release, the mission is centered on high-level advocacy and partnership building to advance Liberia’s health sector and improve the well-being of vulnerable citizens.
The First Lady’s itinerary is designed to leverage global platforms for tangible local impact. Her participation will focus on key events, including a global Health Conference and the annual high-level meeting of the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
At the Global Health Conference hosted by Woods System of Care in collaboration with the Mollie Hare Center for Excellence and The Network towards Unity for Health (TUFH), Madam Boakai will deliver a keynote address.
She is expected to explore modern, adaptable solutions for strengthening Liberia’s primary healthcare infrastructure, with a particular focus on maternal and child health services.
Mrs. Boakai will also participate in a working lunch on Sexual and Reproductive Health, collaborating with her peers to champion a unified approach to continental challenges. These include promoting gender equality, advancing girls’ education, eradicating preventable diseases, and empowering women amid conflict and climate change.
