Private security guards and passersby were greeted with an early Sunday morning, November 16 fire outbreak on the premises of Lonestar Cell MTN Office in Congo Town. Firefighters from the Liberia National Fire Service in a rapid response were seen quenching the blazing fire preventing it from reaching the main building of Lonestar Cell as thick black smoke spread in the atmospheres. Lonestar Cell is Liberia’s oldest post-war telecommunications company.
An annex of the main complex used for SIM Card registration and other customer service activities is said to be damaged significantly. The cause of the fire has not been established as the Liberia National Fire Service begins investigation into circumstances surrounding the outbreak.
