Orange-Liberia has celebrated a major milestone at Orange Icon 16 after a successful completion of the ACE cable fiber rerouting project. The celebration, held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the head office of Orange-Liberia, brought together staffers of GSM companies and members from the Cable Consortium of Liberia.

It can be recalled that the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) and the Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) conducted reroute of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) undersea fiber optic cable from April 22 to April 28, 2025.

Speaking at Orange-Liberia CTO Director Greg Cardozo said as shareholder in Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL), Orange plays a dual role by actively supporting and securing CCL’s operations. He said Orange provided backup connectivity to strengthen national resilience and recognize the leadership and team effort.

“Let me take this moment to acknowledge the outstanding leadership of the CCL Chairman and CEO because he played a truly instrumental role from overseeing planning, ducting preparations and to coordinating the entire restoration,” Cardozo said.

According to him, CCL Chairman’s efforts were critical to the successful completion of this operation and the achievement is not just about restoring connectivity- it’s about collaboration, resilience, and leadership, adding that together they have strengthened Liberia’s digital backbone.

For his part, Orange CIO Director Bamoro Traore said Orange Liberia with the help of Pierre de Fermat, ensured uninterrupted connectivity during the ACE cable transition and the country counted on them.

He said during the ACE cable rerouting by LTA and CCL, Orange Liberia kept individuals and businesses connected across Liberia, saying that it’s the trust of Liberians that drives their commitment to reliable connectivity.

Also speaking, Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) Chairman Henry Benson commended Orange- Liberia for the vital role the company played in making sure that internet never went off during the repair of fiber cable.

He said during the repairs of the country’s only fiber cable, the company terrestrial fiber network, which serves as a major backup for communication and Mobile Financial Services (Orange Money), was used to support other telecommunications operators and internet service providers. CCL Chairman Benson further said with the repair of the fiber cable shows that Orange-Liberia’s network is strong and indeed the best.
