The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed one of its officers for attempting to kill his neighbor identified as Eric Tarr.
According to Police Spokesperson Cecelia Clarke, Patrolman Jerome S. Togba got into a fight with Eric Tarr and during the fight, Jerome allegedly wounded Courage Tarr, daughter of Eric on her forehead using a machete also known as whipper in Liberia.
Police preliminary investigation revealed that Officer Tokpah and the victim’s father Eric Tarr had a long standing land dispute.
Following the probe, the LNP said his action violates its Duty Manual under “Administrative Instructions on Discipline and Professional Standard, Section 6.1.1, Criminal Misconduct, Section 6.1.3, Abuse of Power and Authority, Section 6.1.14 and Assault.”
The Officer has been charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder and Aggravated Assault in keeping with Chapter 10, Section 10.1, Chapter 14, Section 14.20 of the revised Penal Code of Liberia. He has been forwarded to court for prosecution.
