Speaking Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, President Boakai said the launch of the digital transformation aims to make Liberia a leader in the global digital economy with a goal of 10,000 individuals becoming a part of the transformation.

According to him, as Liberia embarks on a journey of profound change and progress, adapting to the needs of the digital age has become increasingly important.

Boakai disclosed that Liberians stand to gain immensely from embracing this transformation because it offers a huge opportunity for progress.

He also noted that embracing transformation offers breaking through the barriers that traditional development avenues have faced due to infrastructure challenges.

President Boakai stated that the digital transformation is crucial in unlocking the nation’s full potential.

“In our department, ICT is the backbone that supports various sectors of development, making it a key player in our development agenda,” he stated.

President Boakai indicated that the introduction of digital transformation paves the way for numerous opportunities for Liberia.

Meanwhile, President Boakai has called on ministries, along with various agencies and commissions to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication and the Liberia Telecommunication Authority to accelerate the development of the E-governance framework.

Given the overview of the project, Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) Acting Chairperson Abdullah L. Kamara narrated that the key objectives of the project is to design and implement digital awareness, skills training and empowerment programs for Liberians to contribute to Liberia’s economic growth.

He also stated that there are three key objectives of the project, which include promoting the use of technology, facilitate tech-education and empower tech entrepreneurs.

Kamara stated that digital transportation refers to the comprehensive integration of digital technologies into all aspects of an organization or society, fundamentally changing how they operate and deliver value.
