The Ganta Detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has made a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, arresting a vehicle carrying a significant quantity of narcotics in Nimba County. According to the LDEA Nimba Detachment, a total of 299 packs of Taramaking 250mg, a controlled substance, were discovered concealed in a vehicle intercepted between Yekepa and Sanniquellie on October 26, 2025 reportedly en route to Monrovia.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the driver claimed to have no knowledge of the drugs found in his vehicle. He told investigators that one of the packages discovered under the car seat was allegedly given to him by an unidentified man to transport. The driver further stated that the drugs were placed in the vehicle after he had already loaded his belongings and was preparing to take-off.
However, during a thorough search conducted by LDEA officers, additional packs of the same drug were found hidden inside two of the driver’s bags. When questioned, the suspect claimed that those bags also belonged to an unidentified individual who had asked him to deliver them. This revelation has raised further suspicions about the driver’s possible involvement in the trafficking of illicit drugs. Authorities have since intensified their investigation to uncover the network behind the operation and identify the individuals connected to the consignment.
The LDEA has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting communities from the dangers of narcotics and ensuring that those involved in the illegal drug trade face the full weight of the law.
