The Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) on Saturday, November 30, 2024, elected a new code of officers to steer its leadership for the next three years. Those elected are Cllr. Bono Varmah, President, Cllr. F. Juah Lawson, Vice President, Cllr. Elisha Forkeyoh, Secretary General, and Atty. Yemi Shobayo-Williams, Treasurer.
The newly elected leadership through President-elect Varmah described the election as a victory not only for their supporters, but a victory for democracy and the rule of law in Liberia. He promised to work with the Supreme Court, the Executive and the Judiciary to ensure that the rule of law is adhered to in the country.
Cllr. Varmah said the LNBA under his administration will work with the Supreme Court in ensuring that legal reforms are made to law where necessary, while ensuring the welfare of every member. For her part, the Vice President-elect, Cllr. F. Juah Lawson promised to complement the Presidency of the Bar in ensuring that it continues to remain a beacon of integrity and a pillow for the maintenance of peace, security and respect for the rule of law.
Meanwhile, the Bar concluded by adopting a resolution to uphold the integrity of providing access to justice across the country. The Bar has remained resolute to ensure access to justice by providing a pro-bono service through a regulatory framework by providing the necessary training under its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) platform.
