The House of Representatives has taken disciplinary action against the Representative of Gbarpolu County District #2, Luther Collins, for assaulting Montserrado County District #8 Representative, Prince Toles.
The Leadership of the Honorable House of Representatives issued a formal warning and directive to the Gbarpolu lawmaker for his continued failure to comply with a mandate of the Plenary concerning his conduct toward Representative Toles.
According to the directive, Plenary had earlier resolved that Collins issue a formal written apology to Toles and ensure its publication in three local daily newspapers. The decision followed an incident considered an attack on the person of Hon. Toles, and was intended to uphold the dignity, integrity, and decorum of the House, and promote mutual respect among members.
However, the Leadership notes with concern that Representative Collins has neither submitted nor published the required apology, in clear disregard of the Plenary’s decision. Meanwhile, Representative Collins has been formally warned and directed to fully comply with the mandate within one week from the date of receipt of the communication. Failure to adhere to this directive will compel the House to institute further disciplinary actions in keeping with its established rules, procedures, and governing instruments.
The House of Representatives reaffirms its commitment to maintaining order, discipline, and respect within its ranks, and urges Mr. Collins to act promptly to resolve the matter.
