The Ministry of Health (MOH) has received a donation of three Toyota Land Cruiser jeeps, two double-cab Land Cruiser pickups, and seventeen Yamaha motorbikes for health emergency response.

The donation was made on June 3, 2025, by Plan International through the Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) initiative. According to a June 4, 2025, release, receiving the keys on behalf of the Ministry, Dr. Catherine Cooper, Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, expressed deep appreciation to Plan International and its partners.

Dr. Cooper acknowledged the impact the donation would have on strengthening the Ministry’s operations and assured the partners of the Ministry’s commitment to using the donation for its intended purposes.

“We can assure our donors that these items will be used for their intended purpose. This donation will go a long way in facilitating our work, improving service delivery, and enabling us to reach the last mile,” Dr. Cooper stated.

Presenting the vehicles, Madam Mariam Ann Murray, Country Director of Plan International Liberia, praised the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto for her role in coordinating the TB and HIV projects.

“Thanks to the leadership and coordination around the TB and HIV projects.

It has been a long journey, but today we are beginning to see the fruits of that labor. We are pleased to hand over these capacity-building resources to support the Ministry’s leadership on this important project.

Thank you for giving Plan International the opportunity to work alongside your team,” Madam Murray said.

The donation aims to strengthen Liberia’s health system in a resilient and sustainable manner, ensuring greater preparedness for future health emergencies.

It will also enhance the nation’s health capacity for the timely detection and reporting of epidemic-prone diseases, key benchmarks under the Global Fund’s C19 Response Mechanism (C19RM) project.

Additionally, the contribution supports the Ministry and its autonomous agencies in achieving measurable improvements in health system strengthening, in line with the objectives of the C19RM grant.
