Bong County District #3 Representative, J. Marvin Cole says he will not support any impeachment bill against President Joseph N. Boakai. Speculations within the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) suggest plans to impeach President Boakai over alleged constitutional breaches.

Acarous Moses Gray, former District #8 Representative recently claimed on social media that an impeachment Bill against President Boakai is forthcoming. “Imminent Bill of Impeachment to surface on the floor of the House of Representatives. Boakai must be removed from office constitutionally,” Gray posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday.

This announcement has stirred immediate reactions from both political allies and supporters, further intensifying Liberia’s already tensed political climate. In an interview with journalists in Gbarnga, Bong County recently, Representative Cole said the impeachment of President Boakai is not the right action.

He emphasized that if President Boakai undermines the Constitution of Liberia, corrective measures must be taken. “I don’t think we should go to the extent of sponsoring a bill to impeach the President. We are just six months into this government, and there are many issues to address. We need to see how these issues unfold,” Representative Cole stated.

The CDC lawmaker also cautioned the Boakai administration against selectively targeting officials from the previous administration of President George Manneh Weah for corruption. He stressed the importance of addressing corruption within the current administration. He urged the General Auditing Commission (GAC) not to ignore previous audit reports.

Representative Cole made these remarks while donating 150 bundles of zinc and one million Liberian Dollars to aggrieved marketers in Gbarnga, Bong County.
