The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has sent to jail a 33-year-old man identified as Jordan David for allegedly having in his possession a fake appointment letter claiming that he was appointed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai as the Deputy Director for Administration at the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA).
On Thursday, April 11, 2024, Magistrate Ben Barco imprisoned Suspect David based on a complaint filed by the Republic of Liberia by and through Emmanuel Tokpa.
According to the complaint, in the month of February 2024, suspect David allegedly fake an appointment letter using the president’s signature to act in the deputy position at NAFAA.
The suspect reportedly used the fake appointment to dupe several persons of their cash under the pretense that he would give jobs to them.
Following his arrest on April 5, 2024 and investigated by the Police, defendant David was subsequently charged with Criminal Conspiracy, Impersonating Officials, Theft of Property and Forgery of Document.
Police investigation also established that the crimes were perpetrated by defendant David who willingly, knowingly, purposely, and with the intent to commit the crimes, criminally conspired with others to be identified to prepare a fictitious appointment letter in order to deceive his victims, purporting himself as an appointed Government official, thereby using same to persuade his victims under the pretense of giving them jobs; thus, duping them out of their cash in the form of credit.
The investigation further established that, defendant Jordan David was an employee of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NAFAA).
The defendant admitted to the police and confessed that all those cash received by him were on a credit basis, and that he had deceived his victims with the fictitious appointment letter to give them jobs after his confirmation at NAFAA in getting their cash.
The investigation revealed that, he (Jordan David) anticipated job from the President and that he was going to give them jobs.
