President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has officially commissioned the new leadership of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA). Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the Liberian leader called on the leadership of NaFAA to demonstrate integrity, accountability and courage in the discharge of their duties.

President Boakai emphasized that effective leadership is not about pleasing everyone but about making decisions that serve the country’s best interests. He urged the newly appointed officials to remain focused and committed to advancing Liberia’s fisheries sector.

The President highlighted the strategic importance of NaFAA in supporting the government’s broader development agenda, particularly in strengthening the blue economy, improving national food security, and creating employment opportunities for Liberians.

He further stressed that the institution plays a critical role in managing the country’s fisheries resources sustainably while ensuring that the benefits reach ordinary citizens. The commissioning of the new leadership is a significant step toward repositioning NaFAA as a key driver of economic growth and sectoral transformation. Authorities say the move is expected to enhance governance, boost productivity within the fisheries sector, and contribute meaningfully to Liberia’s overall development efforts.
