As part of his trip at the US-Africa Summit in Texas, the United States of America, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai is making use of every opportunity to present Liberia’s case to global leaders.
During a courtesy visit by the President of Kosovo, Madam Vjosa Osmani with President Boakai on the sideline of the Summit, the Liberian leader sought the support of Kosovo to help Liberia in its bid to sit on the United Nations Security Council.
President Boakai requested Madam Osmani’s help in galvanizing support in the Balkan Region for Liberia’s bid.
On the sidelines of the US-Africa Business Summit, President Boakai told Madam Osmani on Monday, May 6, 2024, that the importance of Liberia’s presence on the UN Security Council is to promote peace, security and ensure that the voice of African nations is heard in global decision-making processes.
According to an Executive Mansion release, Madam Osmani congratulated President Boakai on his leadership qualities.
She expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and exploring ways in which they could work together in critical sectors such as business and trade, agriculture, diplomacy, youth empowerment, defense cooperation, coal mining, among others.
During their meeting, President Osmani spoke about the challenges her country faced in gaining freedom and justice in the Balkan Peninsula.
She highlighted how both countries with similar experiences of difficult past could work in concert to motivate improvement in livelihood and strengthen democracy.
President Boakai thanked President Osmani for her visit. He also expressed interest in strengthening the relationship between both countries, acknowledging the potential such of relationships could have on triggering positive impact on their respective local communities.
He pointed to the abundance of natural resources in Liberia that are vital to the growth and development of the country.
He shared his vision for attracting investments in trade and commerce, agriculture and economic development to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
These, he said are part of his Government’s ARREST (Agricultural, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation and Tourism) Agenda.
