Representative Musa Bility of Nimba County District #7 and political leader of the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) declared his intentions to shift focus from parliamentary service to a potential presidential bid in 2029. The revelation, made during a live appearance on the popular ‘Spoon Talk’ program, indicates a major strategic re-orientation for one of Liberia’s well-known political figures.
Bility explicitly stated that he would not seek re-election for his current legislative seat in 2029. Instead, his sights are firmly set on the highest office in the land. He clarified that his immediate ambition is to contend for the standard-bearership of the Citizens Movement for Change at the party’s upcoming convention, a crucial step towards becoming a presidential candidate.
“I will not be running for Representative in 2029,” Bility affirmed on the program, adding, “I am considering running for standard-bearership of my party at convention to run for President.” This declaration opens up a race in Nimba County’s District #7, a seat Bility has held with considerable influence. For the Citizens Movement for Change, Bility’s declaration solidifies his position as a prominent figure, potentially galvanizing support or creating internal dynamics ahead of the convention.
