The Chairman of the Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT), Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin, along with Taskforce member, Atty. Suzanne Johnson paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon, on Wednesday at his Capitol Building office in Monrovia.
According to a release dated July 17, 2025, the high-level engagement was part of AREPT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration in the national fight against corruption and the recovery of public assets. During the meeting, Chairman Martin emphasized the importance of a united front in addressing economic crimes and holding accountable those responsible for the misuse of public resources.
He also briefed the Speaker on the Taskforce’s progress, challenges, and future plans. Speaker Koon welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to supporting lawful and transparent anti-corruption efforts and “promoting the President’s Agenda”.
He stressed the need for strong inter-agency cooperation to ensure that the fight against corruption is effective, sustained, and shielded from political interference. The visit underscores AREPT’s strategy of building constructive partnerships with all branches of government and ensuring that accountability and good governance remain national priorities.
