The President of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU) has called on leaders in Africa, especially Liberia, to emulate China’s developmental ingenuity and reforms.

Speaking Monday, April 29, 2024 at the official visitation of the all China Students Federation to Liberia, AASU President Varney A. Jarsey said the history of the Chinese people is built on the foundation of transforming the lives of all peoples of the world and contributing to the advancement of humanity.

According to him, the Chinese miracle of lifting more than 800 million people out of poverty remains one of the most enormous poverty reduction strides recorded human history.

The AASU President called on African leaders to take clues from Chinese developmental ingenuity, earned not on the backs of exploitation and slavery but through the sweat, struggle, and overwhelming commitments of the Chinese people.
He adds that they have shown to the world that a people, united, courageous, and with the right political systems, can determine their own destiny.

The students’ activist believes that African Leaders can learn a lot from a country that was once belittled as the Sick Man of Asia but has today been transformed into a great nation of mass prosperity.

“The All-Africa Students Union (AASU) represents all students in Africa in the 55 African countries. It’s currently made of 75 member unions. The Union has grassroots mobilizing capacity; our membership cuts across student groups on the Continent, and at the national and regional levels,” he said.

For his part, the All China Students Federation (ACSF) President Xuhi expressed excitement for the invitation extended to the Federation and termed the engagement as a valuable task for the two institutions to build a stronger collaboration that fosters China-Africa youth exchange.

All China Students Federation visits to Africa are under the auspices of the President of the All Africa Students Union (AASU).

The program was attended by several students from universities and high schools across the country, scholars, delegation of the All China Students Federation, representatives of the National Legislature, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The event was held Monday, April 29, 2024 at the headquarters of the AASU in Monrovia.
