The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Nimba County Detachment, in collaboration with the Joint Security, has arrested a suspect identified as Mohamed Sheriff at the Ganta Port of Entry for illegal possession of controlled substances.
According to a recent press release, the arrest was carried out on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at approximately 1:30 PM, during a routine security operation at the border point. Officers confiscated two 259 packs of Tramadol tablets from the suspect.
Authorities also recovered 700,000 Guinean Francs, equivalent to approximately Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Liberian Dollars (L$14,700). The LDEA has disclosed that the estimated street value of the seized drugs is L$7,770,000, equivalent to US$40,809. The suspect is currently in the custody of the LDEA Nimba County Detachment, undergoing investigation, while the confiscated drugs and cash have been secured as evidence.
