The European Union has provided updates on the Liberia-EU Business Forum 2026, taking place in Brussels on 24 and 25 February.

Speaking on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Ministry of Information in Monrovia, Her Excellency Nona Deprez, European Union Ambassador to Liberia, said the conference will be held under the theme “The ARTS in the ARREST – Invest in Liberia 2026.”

She said the forum will spotlight priority investment opportunities aligned with Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development, a five-year national strategy aimed at driving inclusive growth and advancing Liberia toward middle-income status.

According to her, the ARREST Agenda focuses on Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, Trade, and Tourism; these priority sectors present strong opportunities for foreign direct investment, private-sector partnerships, and innovation that can unlock sustainable economic growth and job creation across Liberia.

“Over two days, the forum will convene Liberian and European policymakers, investors, business leaders, and members of the Liberian diaspora through high-level plenary sessions, investment showcases, and targeted networking engagements,” she added.

She said the Liberia-EU Business Forum 2026 is more than an investment event; it is a gateway to long-term partnerships that support growth, resilience, and shared prosperity.

However, Ambassador Deprez disclosed that between 2026 and 2032, the European Union will support Liberia through the Strengthening the Artisanal Fish Value Chain Project, which aims to build a more resilient, professional, and investment-friendly marine artisanal fisheries sector.

The European Union Liberia Ambassador noted that the project is designed to improve incomes and create economic opportunities while contributing to sustainable growth in coastal communities, stating that the EU’s support focuses on improving the lives of fishermen and fishmongers by raising quality standards from harvest to market, expanding access to financial and non-financial services, and strengthening business skills.
