Tina Qualah, a 34-year-old woman from Liberia, is appealing for help from philanthropic organizations and generous individuals to secure foreign treatment for her stage II cervical cancer, which doctors say is rapidly spreading. In an interview on Monday, January 16, 2026, Tina’s mother, Ma Jartu Dukuly, shared that she received a call from her daughter last August regarding persistent bleeding, which was initially treated as an infection. However, after several courses of antibiotics, Tina’s condition worsened.

Ma Jartu explained that Tina was taken to the John F. Kennedy (JFK) Medical Center, where she was diagnosed with stage II cervical cancer. The doctors advised seeking medical treatment in Ghana, as chemotherapy is not currently available in Liberia. The estimated cost of treatment in Ghana is approximately $5,000, excluding travel expenses.

Tina, holding back tears, recounted her ordeal, which began last year with pain beneath her bellybutton and unusual discharge. “I visited different clinics, and they said it was an infection. Each time, they gave me medication, which would temporarily alleviate the problem, but it always came back. In August, I started bleeding heavily with clots. After several tests at JFK, the doctor informed me that I was suffering from cancer, which had progressed to stage II,” Tina lamented.

She recently learned at a doctor’s appointment that her cancer has progressed to stage III and is expected to advance further if untreated, with a rapid worsening every three weeks. Tina is urgently calling on the public, especially well-meaning Liberians and residents, to assist her in her fight for life. “I want a chance to contribute to the growth and development of Liberia,” she said.

“My daughter is dying; I have been going from office to office begging for help, but no one has been able to assist me,” Ma Jartu cried. Those wishing to provide any form of assistance can contact Tina or Ma Jartu at the following numbers: 0770994967, 0772662162, or 0886181151.
